This initiative has grown significantly over the last few years. Christmas is historically one of the hardest times on the reservation as families are further reminded of the poverty and struggles of reservation life. Many people can’t afford a single gift. A local church in Kyle is doing great work in caring for the community and is providing many great ideas and support in delivering and distributing gifts and clothes.
We are currently sending donations to aid the 5,000 people in Kyle. The more donations we receive, the more we can expand the program to neighboring communities such as Wounded Knee and Anderson.
Toy Donations: The best way to donate is by providing wrapped gifts that indicate whether the gift is for a boy or girl and the age range the gift is appropriate for. However, any and all gifts will be accepted.
Coat donations: Winter wear such as coats, gloves and hats in all sizes are needed. Boots are also extremely helpful.
Lakota Circle arranges annual drop off locations in the Chicago-land area as Christmas approaches. Please visit this page as we get closer to the winter season for more details.
